Yamaoto Ayako is a senior researcher at the EuroStern Consulting Hong Kong office, where she specializes in the structural analysis of Asian economic zones, with a particular focus on RCEP and CPTPP. Her research also examines the impact of geopolitical risks on semiconductor and electric vehicle supply chains, providing valuable insights for businesses navigating these critical sectors.
Ayako holds a PhD in Political Science from Heidelberg University, where her research focused on Asia-Pacific economic integration. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Political Economy from the Free University of Berlin, concentrating on the comparative analysis of trade agreements between the EU and Asia. Prior to her current role, she worked as a researcher at EuroStern Consulting's Germany headquarters from 2013 to 2023, where she assessed policy risks for German companies investing in Asia. Additionally, she served as an assistant researcher at the Berlin German Institute for Economic Research from 2010 to 2013, focusing on economic cooperation policies between the EU and Asia and providing policy recommendations to the European Commission. Ayako enjoys sharing her life between Hong Kong and Germany, enriching her perspective on both regions.
